# Multi chart

{% hint style="info" %}
Visualizes two or more measures as line / column (bar) charts so you can see how they change over time. In the chart type grid, it appears as **Combo**.
{% endhint %}

## How to use

Once you've set the data source, dimensions and data filters on the Data tab, click **Combo** in the type grid on the **Chart** tab of the settings panel on the right.

1. Click the **Chart** tab in the settings panel on the right, then click **Combo** in the type grid.

2. Under **Measures and charts**, choose a measure for each row and whether to draw it as a **Line** or **Column**. To add a row, click **Add measure and chart**.

{% hint style="info" %}

* A multi chart can hold up to 5 measure rows, and you can choose to draw each row as a **Line** or **Column** (bar).
* Handy when...👍\
 You want to follow two key metrics over time.\
 e.g. Seeing how two metrics, such as revenue and units sold, or gross margin and contribution margin, change over time.
 {% endhint %}

### Stack the bars into one (stacked combo chart)

Select **Stacked combo chart** under **Display** on the **Chart** tab, and the column measures are stacked into a single bar while the line measures are still drawn on top. Stacking is available when two or more groups are drawn as columns.

* **Show values as**: **Value** shows the amounts as is; **Share** shows each part's share of the bar total (100% stacked).
* **Bar labels**: Choose whether to show the **Stack total** above each bar or the value for each measure.
* Because a stacked bar represents a sum, column measures can only use the same unit as the first column (e.g. currency). Line measures don't have this restriction.

{% hint style="info" %}
**To show a part-of-whole relationship:** A stacked bar is the sum of each measure. For example, if you stack revenue and net sales as they are, the bar height is the sum of the two.\
To see how much of revenue is net sales, create `Revenue - Net sales` with a [custom formula](/guide/en/customdashboard/custom/custom_formula.md), then stack **Net sales** with this formula. The full bar height then equals revenue.
{% endhint %}

3. Set the headline under **Headline**.

 ![Headline](https://616205588-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fqr1veGyUqCNwQBBmk3yt%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-16c03bc064518bc7d8643f1c1efef7e5786cd435%2Fcustomdashboard__custom__chart__combo__03.png?alt=media)

{% hint style="info" %}

* For the headline, you can choose **Sum, Average, Min, Max or Last**.
* Choose the headline basis (**All, By dimension**) and the sort order (**Ascending, Descending**).
 {% endhint %}

4. Choose an interval (**Hourly, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly**) under **Frequency** in the date bar above the chart to view the selected date range at that interval.

 ![Frequency in the date bar](https://616205588-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fqr1veGyUqCNwQBBmk3yt%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-2983b99a06cd12659c3be201646f475fa949f745%2Fcustomdashboard__custom__chart__bump__03.png?alt=media)
