# Line chart

Compare several dimensions on one measure, or analyze several measures for a single dimension, to quickly see how time-series data changes.

## How to use <a href="#guide" id="guide"></a>

Once you've set the data source, dimensions and data filters on the Data tab, a line chart is applied automatically.

1. Click the **Chart** tab in the settings panel on the right of the chart editor. Check that **Line** is selected in the type grid.

2. Under **Visualization**, select **Comparison** or **Single**.

* **Comparison**: Select multiple dimensions and a single measure to compare the measure across dimensions. Use it when you want to compare several channels or products.
* **Single**: Select a single dimension and multiple measures to measure and compare several metrics for one dimension at once. Use it when you want detailed metrics for one channel or product. A 2D time-series chart has only two Y-axes, so you can visualize at most two units. For example, you can show % and $ together, but not %, $ and # at the same time.

3. Select a measure.

* With **Single**, you can **select multiple measures**.
* With **Comparison**, you can **select only one measure**.

4. Set the headline under **Headline**.

* For the headline, you can choose **Sum, Average, Min, Max or Last**.
* Choose the headline calculation basis (**All, By dimension**) and the sort order (**Ascending, Descending**).

5. Choose a comparison period under **Compare** in the date bar above the chart to see at a glance how the chart is changing against the comparison period.

6. Choose an interval (**Hourly, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly**) under **Frequency** in the date bar above the chart to view the selected date range at that interval.
