# Quadrant chart

{% hint style="info" %}
Pick two measures, X and Y, to quickly find dimensions that are good on both X and Y, and those that are poor on both. When performance is weak, it helps you decide whether to improve X or Y.
{% endhint %}

## How to use <a href="#guide" id="guide"></a>

Once you've set the data source, dimensions and data filters on the Data tab, click **Quadrant** in the type grid on the **Chart** tab of the settings panel on the right.

1. Click the **Chart** tab in the settings panel on the right, then click **Quadrant** in the type grid.

2. A quadrant chart is visualized by selecting two measures (**Measure 1 (x-axis)**, **Measure 2 (y-axis)**) and a **Bubble size**.

{% hint style="info" %}

* A quadrant chart needs a dimension and at least two measures to be drawn.
* Handy when...👍\
  You want to quickly find dimensions that are good on both X and Y, and those that are poor on both, based on the x- and y-axes.\
  e.g. Finding products with both high revenue and high contribution margin, or ad creatives with both high CTR and high ROAS.
  {% endhint %}

3. Set the **Baseline**.

   ![Baseline](https://616205588-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fqr1veGyUqCNwQBBmk3yt%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-e910ae6ddc3171084959a68b4a6dfdef210acaf7%2Fcustomdashboard__custom__chart__quadrant__03.png?alt=media)

{% hint style="info" %}

* **Median**: Shows distance from the median of the x- and y-axis measures, using percentiles. The median sits in the middle and items spread out evenly.
* **Average**: Shows distance from the mean of the x- and y-axis measures, using standard scores (Z-scores). If one item is unusually large, the rest may cluster in the middle.
  {% endhint %}
