# Connecting Google Ads

## Google Ads connection guide

1. Click **Data Connect** in the left rail, then enter Google Ads in **Search connectors** in the navigation panel, or click **Google Ads Connect** in the **Ad channels** category.

2. Click **Data Connect** at the right of the **Google Ads Connect** screen header to open the connection window. You can see your current step in **How to connect** at the top of the window.

If you haven't connected an account yet, the connector screen shows **What you can analyze once connected**. Click **View sample** to preview the screens you'll see after connecting, using sample data. Also check **How to connect** and **Before you start** at the bottom of the screen for the connection steps and what to prepare.

3. In the **Google Ads Connect** window, click the **Connect Google Ads with Google** button under **Sign in with Google**. Google sign-in opens in a new window.

If the new window doesn't open, turn off your browser's pop-up blocker.

4. Sign in with the Google account you run ads with.

5. On the access request screen that follows, **be sure to check the permission item** marked 1 in the image, then click the **Continue** button.

6. When you return to Laplace, **Choose ad accounts to import** opens. Select the ad accounts to connect in the **Data source** tab, then click the **Data Connect** button to start sourcing data.

If permission isn't granted, Laplace can't import your data. You must **check the permission item** for the sync to work properly.

* Connected accounts appear in the connection table on the connector screen. From ⋯ (**More actions**) at the right of a row, you can **Refresh** and **Renew Authentication**. If authentication has expired, click **Renew Authentication**, then click **Re-authorize with Google** under **Re-authorize with the same Google account**. You must sign in again with the Google account you connected for the existing connection to be renewed.
* Because we import data for the entire history of the ad account, **it can take more than an hour if there's a lot of data**.

**Why does the data sync take so long?**

👉 Laplace doesn't just import your Google Ads data; it also cleans the imported data and draws the charts. The more data there is, the longer it can take.

💬 You can track progress in **Jobs & data status** at the right of the top bar, and we'll also email you when the sync is complete. Collection continues even if you close Laplace, so feel free to close it.

## FAQ

My account won't connect.

When Google requests access for Laplace Analytics, data can't be imported unless you check '**See, edit, create, and delete your Google Ads accounts and data**'. Laplace only views your Google account data and never uses the edit/create/delete functions, so you can check it and connect with confidence.
